Micro-credentials and CPD opportunities

A number of study-units at the postgraduate level are regularly made available as standalone Continuing Professional Development (CPD) micro-credential units for individuals in full-time employment who wish to keep up with technological advances and current thinking in the field of environmental monitoring and assessment.

These CPD units are eligible for a refund of the tuition fees under the Get Qualified initiative.

Online applications are open for the following 5-ECTS study-units being delivered during the second semester i.e. between February and June 2026:

Applicants should note that lectures and practicum sessions take place during the day.

Application instructions

The deadline for online applications for these CPD units is 30 January 2026.

It is essential that ALL applicants submit their application as a NEW USER, even if they have previously enrolled for other CPD units in the past. Each applicant is required to create a new and unique username and password which are specific to this new application. When prompted to choose the Course Start Date, applicants should select Visiting Student (1/F) – 2025/6 from the drop-down menu.

Please note that a submission is deemed to be complete only after the applicant presses the submit button at the end of the application page and completes the registration payment process. Successful submission will be confirmed by an email sent to the applicant's personal email address.

Applicants being sponsored by their employers, whether these are public or private entities,  should proceed through the application process until they reach the payment gateway screen. At this point, they must stop and close the application window without proceeding with payment. This will ensure that the application fee is waived in accordance with prior arrangements.

All other applicants should complete payment normally, as prompted during the application process.

Certification

A certificate will be issued at the end of the academic year to students who successfully complete one or more study-units. Students who complete a sufficient number of units with an average mark of at least 50% may be eligible for the award of a Postgraduate Certificate (30 ECTS) or Postgraduate Diploma (60 ECTS). It should also be noted that credits awarded for these study-units may eventually be transferred to the M.Sc. in Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (EMA) course, subject to approval by the Board of Studies, as provided for within the course bye-laws.
