Travelling to Malta

Pre-Arrival:

The Maltese Public Health Authorities have lifted all travel bans that were in place during the Covid-19 pandemic. The two lists of countries that were categorised as Red and Dark Red have been eliminated.

International travellers no longer require prior authorisation from the Maltese Public Health Authorities to travel to Malta.

You are strongly advised to consult this official travel information to keep yourself updated with the latest health-related requirements.  We have prepared information on the orientation sessions page which we strongly suggest you go through carefully.

We recommend that prior to arrival, you make the necessary accommodation arrangements.

When travelling to Malta, remember to pack the following items in your hand luggage:

  • passport
  • national Identity Card
  • acceptance letter
  • original academic documents
  • prescription for any medication
  • vaccination records/PCR tests results (if necessary)
  • return ticket and travel insurance
  • documents necessary for you to apply for the residence permit (if applicable).

Arrival in Malta:

If you are travelling by air, you will land at the Malta International Airport.   Once you land at the Airport, you can go directly to your accommodation by public transport or by taxi. A number of public bus routes operate from the airport to several areas in Malta. Access the full list of routes on the Malta Public Transport website. Taxis are available at the arrivals lounge. Find more information about taxi rates. Alternatively, you can pre-book airport transfers through a local or international service provider via websites or mobile applications.
