Overview

This hands-on workshop introduces academics to Leganto, the University's online platform for creating and managing study-unit reading lists. Leganto links study-unit reading lists directly to the Library's electronic and physical resources and to study-unit descriptions on the UM Course Finder. Participants will learn how to build structured reading lists that connect seamlessly to library collections - making essential materials readily accessible to students while supporting the design of their study-units, quality assurance, and collaboration with library staff. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to follow along and work directly on their own reading lists.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Compile and manage reading lists using a variety of legally accessible sources.
  • Maintain reading lists that are accurate, structured, and regularly updated.
  • Collaborate effectively with Library staff and colleagues in creating and curating reading lists.

Note that:

  • Participants should bring their laptops.
  • Basic familiarity with UM Library platforms (e.g., HyDi) is recommended.
  • Academics should email readinglists.lib@um.edu.mt with a list of study units they own prior to the session.
