Students are expected to submit a research proposal outlining their interest. Prospective students are encouraged to contact staff about their research proposals. Past postgraduate degrees have focused on Laboratory Theatre in the Twentieth Century, Russian Theatre in the Early Twentieth Century, Shakespeare in Performance, Actor Training and Photography, Theatrical Events, and other specific aspects of theatre histories. Interdisciplinary research investigating areas including Music Theatre, Opera, musicality and theatre, and Dance Theatre is also encouraged.
