Claire Casha graduated from the University of Malta with a first class Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) degree in 1998 and a distinction Master in Family Studies degree in 2014. She was awarded a PhD in Social Policy from the University of York in 2024. Her PhD study focused on fathers' views of parenting arrangements post-separation and explored the interface between family law and doing family through gender.
Claire started her career in 1999 at 'sedqa' within the Foundation for Social Welfare Services where she gained over ten years' clinical experience conducting systemic family therapy sessions in the Family Team. She also facilitated support groups for parents and partners of clients partaking in the same agency's drug rehabilitation programme. Claire is currently head of the Department of Child and Family Studies within the Faculty for Social Wellbeing at the University of Malta which she joined in 2011. She has extensive experience lecturing in the fields of family studies and family policy, as well as coordinating study-units, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. She previously coordinated the Master in Family Studies programme. She has presented her research at both local and international conferences and seminars.
