Perit Jacques Borg Barthet

Jacques joined the University of Malta's Department of Spatial Planning and Infrastructure on a part-time basis in 2012. He read for his undergraduate degree at the University of Malta, and was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship Award to pursue an M.A. in Urban Design at Oxford Brookes University in 2003.

He was a member of the Planning Appeals Board between 2006 and 2010 and has more recently been involved with a number of advisory committees on MEPA policy. For several years he was also actively involved in the Kamra tal-Periti and was responsible for the organisation of a number of high-profile conferences and events. He co-authored the Kamra's 2007 publication 'The Urban Challenge: Our Quality of Life and the Built Environment' which won the Din l-Art Helwa Prix d'Honneur for Built Heritage journalism and Silver Medal in 2008. He was Senior Design Architect at aoM Partnership until 2010 when he took over the role of Practice Manager at Architecture Project.

Jacques' research interests focus on the production of the built environment and particularly on urban governance and its underlying cultural influences.
