Kevin Schembri is Head of the Department of Pastoral Theology, Liturgy and Canon Law at the University of Malta, where he lectures in canon law and pastoral praxis. He also serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the Pontifical Gregorian University within the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome.
He studied philosophy and theology at the University of Malta, obtaining a licentiate in pastoral theology. He later completed a licentiate and a doctorate in canon law and jurisprudence at the Pontifical Gregorian University. His monograph, Oikonomia, Divorce and Remarriage in the Eastern Orthodox Tradition, received the Emerging Scholar Book Prize from the European Society for Catholic Theology. He is a member of the editorial board of Marriage, Family & Spirituality, a peer-reviewed journal based at KU Leuven.
Alongside his academic work, Kevin Schembri serves as a member of the Maltese Metropolitan Tribunal and the Safeguarding Review Board of the Maltese Episcopal Conference. He is also regularly invited to lead retreats and workshops in various areas of pastoral ministry.
