Kevin Schembri is a lecturer in Canon Law and coordinator of the M.A. programme in Matrimonial Canon Law and Jurisprudence at the University of Malta. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Canon Law at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome. His book 'Oikonomia, Divorce and Remarriage in the Eastern Orthodox Tradition' (2017) earned him the Emerging Scholar Award for the Theological Book of the Year by the European Society for Catholic Theology.
Schembri obtained a licentiate in sacred theology from the University of Malta and a doctorate in canon law with specialisation in jurisprudence from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He serves as defender of the bond and promoter of justice at the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Malta and is ecclesiastical assistant to the Society of Christian Doctrine in the same diocese.
