Nathaniel holds a PhD in International Business and Management from the Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow, UK. Prior to that, he read for a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Management and Banking and Finance at the University of Malta, and graduated with an MBA from Henley Business School, UK.

Dr Massa is resident senior faculty at the Department of Business & Enterprise Management, at the University of Malta's Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy. He is Council representative and founding member on the Board of the newly set up Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation at the same university. A researcher associated with the Community for Internationalisation and Enterprise Research (CIER) at the Adam Smith Business School of the University of Glasgow - he also held membership of the Academy of International Business (AIB), USA, and the British Academy of Management (BAM), UK.

An invited reviewer on Elsevier's European Management Journal and Springer's Journal of International Entrepreneurship, Dr Massa's key research interests include international business strategy and international entrepreneurship - particularly in respect of knowledge absorption and exploitation, dynamic capabilities and the leverage of intangible resources towards innovation and sustained competitive advantage. Other interests include opportunity recognition and family business research.

Dr Massa lectures on undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at the University of Malta and abroad in the fields of strategy, international business, innovation and entrepreneurship, and organisational behaviour. Spanning academia and industry through consultancy assignments in public and private sectors, he has also been engaged in expert involvement on international EU projects. He is actively involved in executive training programmes for managers and practitioners in industry and business.

He has presented his research and contributed at various international conferences and colloquia, and has been invited to give workshops and lecture on his subject at foreign universities. Dr Massa's research-related and professional international exposure includes Europe, the Americas and Asia.
