Professor Stefano Filletti is a distinguished Maltese legal scholar and practitioner, specialising in Criminal Law. He serves as a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Criminal Law within the Faculty of Laws at the University of Malta. He is also a Visiting Lecturer at the International Maritime Law Institute (IMO).
Prof. Filletti's academic background includes extensive post-graduate studies at prestigious institutions he holds: a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Malta; awarded a Masters of Law (M. Jur.) in Criminal Law with distinction from the University of Oxford as a Chevening Scholar; a Masters of Law (LL.M.) with distinction in international law and law of the seas from the International Maritime Law Institute (IMO). His foundational degrees, including the Doctor of Laws (LL.D.), were obtained from the University of Malta.
In addition to his academic roles, Prof. Filletti maintains a significant profile in private practice and public service. He is the Senior Managing Partner at Filletti & Filletti Advocates in Malta, specialising in criminal law. He also Heads the Maltese Delegation to the Council of Europe's European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC), and has been elected to the Bureau of the CPDC. Prof. Filletti also acts as an advisor to both private and public entities and holds the title of Honorary Consul for Ecuador.
