Dr Vanessa Petroni Magri graduated with an M.Pharm. degree in 2012 and shortly afterwards obtained her Research Doctorate in molecular oncology in 2016. She currently holds a post-doctoral research position with the University of Malta. Her research focuses on the molecular pharmacology and pathology of non-small cell lung cancer. During her PhD studies Dr Petroni Magri was awarded a scholarship so as to carry out part of her research in Centre de Recherche en Cancerologie de Marseille (CRCM), which forms part of Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), thanks to which she now holds an active collaboration with this research centre. Dr Petroni Magri's work has been published in scientific journals, as well as presented in numerous scientific meetings. She has various achievements to her name, of particular note are her awards of the single prize for an abstract of distinction at the '33rd Annual Chemotherapy Foundation Symposium: Innovative Cancer Therapy for Tomorrow', New York, and her JRC Malta Young Scientist Award in which she ranked first in the Health and Society Sector. Dr Petroni Magri has also been the recipient of prestigious scholarships, including her PhD scholarship in which she ranked in the top 15% of candidates. She also participates in European Networking and Training Initiatives and is currently for the second time, a Malta representative in an EU COST Action Programme.
