Exemptions

Applicants who are nationals of English-Speaking Countries and completed their secondary education certificate in the same country; or applicants who successfully completed a full degree at a recognised Higher Education Institution in such countries may be exempted from presenting a SELT Certificate. The list of countries is indicated below:

  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Australia
  • the Bahamas
  • Barbados
  • Belize
  • Canada*
  • Dominica
  • Grenada
  • Guyana
  • Ireland
  • Jamaica
  • New Zealand
  • St Kitts and Nevis
  • St Lucia
  • St Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • UK
  • USA

*Non-Canadian nationals presenting a degree obtained in Canada are required to provide proof that the degree was taught and assessed in English.

 

Applicants in possession of one of the following qualifications may also exempted from presenting a SELT certificate:

UK GCE Advanced Level pass in English Language at Grade D or better
UK GCE Advanced Subsidiary pass in English Language at Grade E or better
UK GCSE pass in English Language at Grade 4 / Grade C or better

MATSEC Advanced Level pass in English Language at Grade E or better
MATSEC Intermediate Level pass in English Language at Grade E or better
MATSEC SEC Level pass in English Language at Grade 5 or better

IB Diploma English A - HL or SL at 4 points or better
IB Diploma English B - Language HL at 4 points or better
