The MA in European, Economics and Law provides a strong foundation in European Studies. It includes compulsory study-units in these subject areas and a wide range of elective study-units on key topics, including lobbying in the EU, EU treaties and laws, the politics and economics of European Integration, the EU’s external relations, EU cohesion policy, climate change and current political and economic developments.
The course is taught on a seminar basis and is intended to further deepen your knowledge of European politics, law and economics so that by the end of the course they can rightly claim to be ‘specialised generalists’ i.e. graduates with a broad knowledge of the EU but with a deeper specialised understanding in particular areas. The aim is to encourage students to develop their analytical and critical skills – something which is aided by the way the seminars are structured.
Applicants must be in possession of:
Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications
provided that, in appropriate cases, the Board may, after an interview, require students admitted to the Course to follow and pass related study-units to which a maximum of 10 credits are assigned in addition to the programme of study.
Applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree with Third Class (Honours) or Category III in any area deemed relevant by the Board and who have work experience that is related to the Course, may, after an interview, be admitted to a preparatory programme which programme, if successfully completed, provides access to the Degree.
The Board may allow applicants possessing a degree other than those specified in the above paragraphs to join the Course, provided that the degree classification is not less than Second Class (Honours)/Category II, and subject to the submission of a letter of motivation and an interview to establish whether they have sufficient proficiency and background to be able to profit from the Course. In such instances, the Board may recommend that applicants follow the preparatory programme or part of it.
