Trainer:Mr Etienne Borg Bugeja, Senior IT Executive Target Audience:Administrative, managerial and technical staff Session Duration: 3 hours Delivery Mode: Class-based
This interactive workshop provides a practical introduction to Artificial Intelligence, with a particular focus on Google's Gemini ecosystem and NotebookLM. Participants will explore how AI is increasingly shaping both our personal and professional lives, while gaining hands-on experience with tools that can enhance productivity, communication, creativity, and knowledge management.
Through real-life examples, demonstrations, and interactive exercises, attendees will develop the confidence to use Gemini responsibly and effectively within their daily work. The workshop also highlights the importance of ethical AI use, data protection, and maintaining human oversight when integrating these technologies into professional environments.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Understand the fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence and recognise how AI is already integrated into everyday life and workplace technologies;
Identify practical applications of Gemini and related AI tools that can support productivity, creativity, and problem-solving;
Apply prompt engineering techniques to obtain more accurate, useful, and context-aware outputs from AI systems;
Create and customise Gems to act as specialised AI assistants for recurring tasks and specific workflows;
Use NotebookLM to analyse, summarise, and interact with document-based information while maintaining context and source grounding;
Recognise the ethical considerations associated with AI adoption, including privacy, transparency, validation of outputs, and responsible decision-making;
Identify potential biases in AI-generated outputs and apply appropriate human judgement;
Use Gemini effectively within the University context by understanding when to use the institutional account, protecting sensitive information, and reviewing AI-generated content critically.
