This introductory course offers participants a gentle, structured approach to understanding the basic principles, movements, and energy flow of Tai Chi and Qigong.
The course will cover the following aspects:
Warming Up & Energy Alignment: Basic gentle warm-up exercises, including Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade) to align energies.
Footwork & Fundamentals: Essential stepping techniques and foundational balance.
Core Movements & Applications: Practical forms including:
Wave Hands Like Clouds (Yun Shou)
Brush Knee and Push (Lou Xi Ao Bu)
Parting the Wild Horse’s Mane (Ye Ma Fen Zong)
Strum the Lute (Shou Hui Pi Pa)
Fair Lady Works the Shuttles (Shan Tong Bei)
Partner Exercises (Tui Shou / Push Hands): Exercises completed in pairs to understand and feel each other's energy and force.
Qigong Self-Care: Basic self-massage techniques using gentle tapping methods.
Alan is a qualified Tai Chi instructor and an active member of the Malta Yang Family Taijiquan Association. He is a 4th Generation Descendant Baguazhang student and teacher at the Junxia Wushu Academy in China (led by Master Ou Lihao). His qualifications include:
Diploma in Chinese Language
Introductory Course in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MCAST)
HSK 3 Chinese Language Certification (China Cultural Centre in Malta)
Upon successful completion of these sessions, participants will have the opportunity to join regular ongoing practice sessions with the instructor. This allows attendees to continue refining their skills, deepen their understanding of Tai Chi, and enjoy the ongoing health and wellness benefits of regular practice.
