Community partnerships

A core objective of the C2C Directorate is to cultivate partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, including:

  • Schools and educational institutions
  • Non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
  • Local councils
  • Voluntary organisations
  • Government agencies

These collaborations aim to support community-focused initiatives and ensure that university expertise contributes directly to addressing societal challenges and local needs.

What do we do?

The Directorate for Outreach Services C2C will coordinate initiatives that bring together academic knowledge and community experience through several key activities:

  • Promoting Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) as an alternative pathway to higher education
  • Coordinating community-based learning and research initiatives that engage students and academics with local communities
  • Supporting the co-creation of curricula, integrating community knowledge and lived experience into academic programmes
  • Encouraging collaboration between academic departments, community organisations and public stakeholders.

Through these initiatives, the Directorate aims to create opportunities for mutual learning and shared knowledge, ensuring that communities benefit from university research while the University gains valuable insights from real-world experience.
