As a senior lecturer (tenure track) in Arabic studies, Peter Konerding specialises in two distinct yet complementary domains: Arabic literature and Arabic language education. Previously, he served as the coordinator of the Centre for the Arabic Language at the University of Münster, Germany, as well as the elected president of the German Association of Teachers of Arabic.
While holding a post at the University of Bamberg, Germany, he spearheaded various research and teaching initiatives centred on Arabic language pedagogy in North Africa. His work on contemporary Maghrebi fiction earned him the 2020 Rotary Club Bamberg-Schloß Geyerswörth doctoral award.
Beyond his background in Arabic, Konerding completed a comprehensive teaching degree ('Staatsexamen') in French, Spanish, and educational sciences. This interdisciplinary foundation informs his approach to Arab culture and its Mediterranean confluences.
