Entry into undergraduate (Bachelor's degree) courses:

To be considered for admission and to satisfy the University’s General Entry Requirements you need to present the Scottish Qualifications Certificate, including:

3 Advanced Higher and one Higher passes

Or

2 Advanced Higher and 3 Higher passes

These passes must include a pass in English language, a language other than English, a science subject and a humanistic subject.

Entry into courses having Special Requirements:

Any applicable Special Course Requirements will be satisfied if you present Advanced Higher passes at grade C or better in the subjects stipulated as Special Course Requirements. These requirements can be accessed in the respective course overview in the UM’s Course Finder.

Entry into the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery course:

When applying for this course, applicants are required to present the Scottish Qualifications Certificate, including:

3 Advanced Higher and one Higher passes

Or

2 Advanced Higher and 3 Higher passes

These passes must include a pass in at least a language, a science subject and a humanistic subject, of which

a)  2 passes at Advanced Higher Level at Grade B in Biology and Chemistryand

b)  1 pass at Higher Level at Grade B in one of the following subjects:

Accounting, Applied Mathematics (Mechanics), Arabic, Art, Classical Studies, Computing, Economics, Engineering Drawing and Graphical Communication, English, French, Geography, German, Greek, History, Home Economics and Human Ecology, Information Technology, Italian, Latin, Maltese, Marketing, Philosophy, Physics, Physical Education, Psychology, Pure Mathematics, Music, Religious Knowledge, Russian, Sociology, Spanish, and Theatre and Performance;

Provided that the passes in (a) and (b) are obtained together in one session of examinations (i.e., one sitting) and are from one Examining Board.

Entry into the Master of Dental Surgery course:

When applying for this course, applicants are required to present the Scottish Qualifications Certificate, including:

3 Advanced Higher and one Higher passes

Or

2 Advanced Higher and 3 Higher passes

These passes must include a pass in at least a language, a science subject and a humanistic subject, of which:

a)  2 passes at Advanced Higher Level at Grade C in Biology and Chemistry; and

b)  1 pass at Higher Level at Grade C in Physics;

Provided that the passes in (a) and (b) are obtained together in one session of examinations (i.e., one sitting) and are from one Examining Board.

Applicants shall be chosen according to the Regulations for the Selection of Applicants for admission to the Master of Dental Surgery course. For the purpose of selection, applicants whose qualifications were obtained by the 31st August preceding the commencement of the course, shall be considered first. 

Entry into postgraduate (Master's degree) courses:

If you are looking to apply for a Master's course, we recommend referring to the specific requirements indicated on the Course Finder. In most cases, you must possess an undergraduate degree at a certain classification / GPA, depending on the chosen course. 

Applications for Master's courses are always assessed on a case-by-case basis following the receipt of a complete application.
