Our research

Research in the Department of German focuses on two main areas which are also closely linked to our teaching: Linguistics and Literary & Cultural Studies.

Our Department also has a joint research project on Insularity. Representations and Constructions of Insular Spaces, which has been running since 2011, with an international conference organised in Malta in 2013, conference panels at two congresses of the International Comparative Literature Association, 2016, Vienna, Austria, and 2019, Macau, SAR China; outcomes to date: two edited volumes and a guest-edited section in Island Studies Journal as well as several articles on the topic by individual members of our Department.
