Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino is Professor of Sociology at the University of Malta. He has various publications related to labour studies, industrial relations and human resource management, including at least four books: Evolving Industrial Relations in Malta (with S. Rizzo & E. Zammit, 2003);  Managing People in Malta (with A. Caruana & M. Grixti, 2003), Malta and its Human Resources (with V. Cassar & J. Azzopardi, 2018) and Working Life: The Transformation of Malta: 1960-2020 (with M. Debono, 2021).

Dr Krista Bonello Rutter Giappone is a research support officer with the Centre for Labour Studies at the University of Malta, and a visiting senior lecturer with the Department of English, and a research fellow with the University of Kent. She has recently co-authored the monograph Working Conditions in a Marketised University System: Generation Precarity (Palgrave, 2023) with Lena Wånggren, on precarious academic labour in UK universities. She also co-edited the volume The Double Binds of Neoliberalism: Theory and Culture After 1968 (Rowman & Littlefield 2022), with Guillaume Collett and Iain MacKenzie. She is also a law graduate, with a research interest in employment law and refugee law.

Prof. Anna Borg is a senior lecturer and the former Director of Centre for Labour Studies at the University of Malta.

She is an experienced researcher in matters relating to gender equality between women and men in the labour market. Her main research interest focuses on Work-life issues using theories of Gendered Organisations and theories of Hegemonic Masculinity. She has an interest in Gender and Social Policy issues; the issue of the Gender Pay Gap (GPG); Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs) and Childcare, amongst others.

She is the Coordinator of the Honours Degree Course in Work and Human Resources (HR) and the Diploma in Gender, Work and Society.

Prof. Manwel Debono is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Labour Studies at the University of Malta. He served as Director of the Centre for several years. He is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with a Ph.D. in career choice and development. Since 2000, he has been actively involved in numerous national and European research projects related to the world of work. His research interests encompass industrial relations, labour market, working conditions, work attitudes, skills and competencies, and career guidance.  Click here for a list of his publications.

Dr Luke A. Fiorini is the Director of the Centre for Labour Studies (CLS), University of Malta and a resident academic at the same Centre. He coordinates the Bachelor in Occupational Health and Safety (Hons) and manages the UM’s contract with the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), a tripartite EU Agency. His research interests include those related to working conditions, ergonomics, occupational health psychology, health and safety, and industrial relations.
