The University of Malta launched its Green Travel Plan at an event on 27 September 2011. Following the launch a GTP Committee was setup which is composed of the following members:

• Dr Thérèse Bajada (Asst. Lecturer, Institute for Climate Change & Sustainable Development)

• Gianluca Grech (Precincts Office)
• Raphael Mizzi (GTP Co-ordinator, Institute for Climate Change & Sustainable Development) 
• Prof. Luciano Mulè Stagno (UMASA representative) 
• Perit Christopher Spiteri (Director, Estates, Facilities and Capital Development) 
• KSU President

The Government has identified Green Travel Planning as an important tool to achieve sustainability. An example of how Governments are implementing similar initiatives include the UK Department of Transport  link to travel planning.
