Xjenza Malta’s Thematic R&I programme aims to foster sector-specific support, engage the Maltese research and innovation community, and focus the efforts of researchers and entrepreneurs on addressing national interests.
Following the success of its first 2 launches, the Cancer Research Programme is now opening the third call for applications.

Therapeutic Development and Clinical Strategies
3.1 Biological Therapeutics
3.2 Pharmaceutical Therapeutics
3.3 Proximity to cure
3.4 Pre-clinical Innovation
3.5 Clinical Methodologies
Psychosocial Support and Patient-Centred Approaches (for cancer patients and carers)
4.1 Emotional Support
4.2 Social Support
4.3 Psychological Support
Consortium: Maltese Registered Legal Entities from Public, Private and Academic Origin, as a mono-beneficiary or through a consortium.
Funding: EUR 300,000 per project
TRL: 1 to 7
Duration: 36 months

Adhering to deadlines is essential and makes it possible for us to both support you, and make sure your application is eligible on behalf of UM. Any applications received after the internal deadline are not guaranteed a full review, nor support for processing and signatures.
The PI of any application on behalf of UM should finalise and submit the following documents by deadline 7 December 2026, 23:59 CET.
