Xjenza Malta is taking applications for the Clean Energy Transition Partnership Joint Call 2026. This call aims to foster collaboration between industry, research institutions, and local actors to accelerate the transition to clean energy.
Please note, this call is in 2 Stages, Pre-Proposal and Full Proposal, with the Pre-Proposal stage currently open. If you are successful in Stage 1: The Pre-Proposal, the consortia will be invited to submit a full proposal for Stage 2 by March 2027.
Funding: The maximum funding available for Maltese Entities is Eur 500,000. This may be allocated to a single Maltese applicant, or split between a Maltese consortium.
Project Consortium: Each project must include at least 3 partners from different countries, including the project coordinator, with at least 2 partners from EU or Horizon Europe-associated countries.
Work Effort: A partner may not contribute more than 60% of the project’s total work effort in person-months, and no single country or region may contribute more than 75% of the project’s effort. In addition, partners are also expected to participate actively in the Knowledge Community for CETPartnership, along with a work package for reporting and knowledge sharing.
Project Duration: 12 to 36 months.

Adhering to deadlines is essential not only to inform the University about your intended submission but also to allow us to support you and to get your application signed in time (when applicable).
The coordinator of every consortia should finalise and upload documentation to the CETP Platform by deadline 8 October 2026, 14:00.
Maltese Entities have to submit to the National Contact Point, Xjenza Malta. The PI of any application on behalf of UM should submit the following documents to eusubmissions.xjenzamalta@gov.mt by the deadline 8 October 2026, 23:59.
Successful applicant s that are invited to submit a full proposal do not need to resubmit a National Application Form in Stage 2. However, additional documents will need to be submitted to Xjenza Malta , including but not limited to a Budget Breakdown Form in MS Excel (.xls) and in PDF formats .
