Occupational therapists’ principal responsibility is to enhance individuals’ ability to participate in everyday activities, referred to occupations, after having experienced limitations because of illness, injury, limitations in skills and environmental barriers. Occupational therapists work in hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, traumatology, public and private schools, residential care and the community.
The Bachelor degree in occupational therapy is a wide-spanning Honours programme which brings together knowledge from the biomedical and humanistic sciences, activity analysis, rehabilitation and basic research skills. Academic staff within the Department of Occupational Therapy is approachable and committed to provide high-quality teaching and support to their students. A variety of settings provide students with a range of experiences including traditional class-based teaching, lab-based practical work, clinical and community placements and the possibility of student exchange with overseas universities.
