Our research

The Department is involved in a number of research projects:

• The development of a Smart User-Centred Product Service System for Children with Cerebral Palsy (SMARTCLAP) using augmented reality to develop fine motor/hand  skills in children with cerebral palsy. SMARTCLAP  is a research initiative that addresses H2020 challenges on new models and tools for personalised health and care delivery. Partners for this project include the University of Malta (Faculty of Engineering)
• Phenotypic characterisation of children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD +ADHD) in relation to sensory integration difficulties 
• Development of a new assessment, the Evaluation of Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI), so as to have a standardised tool across countries (Part of EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms 2014 – 2021 “Reduction in Social Inequalities in Health and the Burden of Disease” project)
• COST action 18236: Multi-Disciplinary Innovation for Social Change
• COST action 18123: The European Family Support Network. A bottom-up, evidence-based and multidisciplinary approach
